Hi got a question

i shot my ball into rough from tee might be lost

so i hit a provisional ball from tee lost the first ball continued with pro ball and took 4 shots with provisional ball

as i lost ball was i playing 3 from tee or do i just drop one stroke (4 strokes plus one drop shot)

so would it be a 5 or a 6 i marked on score card

It's a six

  • First tee shot = 1
  • Penalty 'drop' onto the tee = 2
  • Second tee shot = 3

Indeed it's a 6.

Provisional balls for me can be sooooo frustrating.

On a short par four I hit my first tee shot against a fairway tree and lost sight of it. My buddies lost sight as well so I decided to declare a provisional ball and proceeded to whack it to withing 40 yards of the front of the green.

Doh! Why couldn't have done that with the first one!!!???

A good way of working it out is to imagine that you went to collect your ball, then you walked back to the tee and placed it on the tee.

So it's a shot for your first tee shot.

Then you walked to collect your ball and brought it back to the tee, so another shot there.

Then you play your shot off the tee again, so that's three off the tee.
