Anyone play golf today?

The weather was perfect for it! Played at East horton-Parkland course today, i felt i didn't do so great but my score says otherwise. The greens were pretty good, fairways were wonderful but the tees were pretty bad, lack of grass and alot of divots that haven't been replaced.

So how did you get on? and where did you play?

Played at thorpe wood today as usual course in good nick, greens a bit slow.

Heavy rain showers were forcast but they missed us.

Played the front 9 ok but lost focus on the back 9 and my score reflected this.

Just checked out the course guide and it looks hard!

Yeah, we were covered with rain all afternoon but it's more of a misty rain so didn't bother us too much. I play better in this sort of condition really.

Played at Blacknest today, played like an idiot for the first couple including an eleven on  the third which will really test your positivity!! course was in good shape and for a relatively short course was quite challenging. sporadic light drizzle but nothing too serious

Jamie

Divot hadnt been replaced on the tees or fairways?

As I have always been told not to replace divots on tees. use the seed or sand.

Off the tees, really? I always replace my divots off the tees but never knew you're not supposed to replace it? There wasn't any sand beside the tees anyway.

I've heard about blacknest but never played there, is it a hard course? 11 on a hole must be damaging to your confidence, how did you get on after that? I seem to play better on the last 9 holes rather than the first 9s.

Played my first 18 today (usually play 9) using the 9 hole Acorns course at Woodbury Park in Devon (White tee's out, blue in).

Wind is always a challenge there and we had a couple of squally showers blow through, after which it settled into a fine misty drizzle.

Worst bit was the humidity, got out of the car on arrival and my glasses steamed up!

Not a bad day though for all that, only lost 2 balls :-)

Congratulations on completing 18 holes! Very different from playing 9 holes as i'm sure you know by now. Losing 2 balls is really good, i lost quite alot on my first 18 holes by mind you, i only started playing 1 week before that. Yeah, i was wearing under-armour but by the 18th hole, i was a litte wet from the sweat, not the rain!

I reckon i'll try and fit in a 9 holes tomorrow somehow...

If played and finished 1 under gross (well on the last 2 holes in any case), the rest of the round was one to forget.

Played in the Sunday Stableford this morning. Had a decent round, scoring 37 points, 21 front 9, 16 back 9 (picked up on 2 holes, back 9).

Altogether, made 10 pars, missed a couple of birdie putts, but overall quite pleased after some of the 'horror rounds' I have put in recently.

yeah i was eleven over  over after three and i triple bogeyed the last and the double bogeyed the 6th  so by my count i was six over for the other 13 which i was happy with (there is logic in there somewhere!!).  having never played the course and only playing once a fortnight  because of work I was happy with my pars and birdie.

it was a nice course not too challenging but  some lovely par threes and the greens were great, not quick but you could have a good run at your putts

my handicap has now come down another 0.4 so thats 0.6 this month and could have been more if i could only just eradicate those stupid shots ( missed 3ft putts, 3 putting, missing the green with only a 9iron in my hand ect ect)

1 good thing today though

i had a drive on the 17th hole a par 5 530 yards down wind gps measured at a stonking 370 yards, only had a 9 iron shot left and missed the green to the right  which leaves a stupidly hard, no chance of gettin g it close chip to which i didnt get close (suprisingly enough) but managed to get a par. little gutted really after only having a nine iron for my second shot on a par 5

I also played today with 8 others from Sherfield Oaks at one of our favourite courses, namely, South Winchester, which is a long course of the inland links variety.

I am pleased to say that after a long barren spell I managed to win the money with an 84 gross, nett 67.

I played very solid golf all the way round with only three double bogeys.

Dave reporting a week late.

2 mediocre rounds of 90 at tilgate and 94 at sweetwoods. Tilgate is in fantastic nick ( fairways & Greens ) at the min if anyone is going. Sweetwoods on JP'S recomendation is very nice. A little taste of augusta from holes 4-7 with lakes and bridges. Very fast greens.Par on the SI1 14th. Would play again. Playing hassocks 2morrow, hoping for a sub 85. Anyone played it recently? What sort of nick is it in?

David, i would love to play a hole from augusta! Watching it on tv, it looks so surreal! Where are those courses based? Surrey, Hampshire? etc..

Nice one Chris, 14 under par is amazing! Was it just the twos of you or made up of 4 people?

Teams of 4 Jamie. Medal Format. Best 2 Scores on most holes, then a few sneaky 3 scores to count on a couple of the tough holes. Had a Good Combination of Handicaps - 2 Lads off 3, A lad off 10 (Who didn't actually get a score on the card) and Myself. Left a couple out there as well in the round. Did't want to be accused of being too greedy.

Was presented with a a great trophy, sadly it remains in pocession of the club. Hence why I started a topic in another thread to see if anyone can help me track down a trophy dealer who can supply something similar in design and size. Want a replica for my cabinet at home. Apart from a few medals and a couple of crystal awards, never won a proper trophy before.

Ah that explains why you were asking about that in another thread. Well, i hope you find something, at least your name is in the history book. Define proper trophy? I have quite a few trophies but nothing meaningful as they're mostly second places.

Just completed 13 holes at rosebowl, played really well, scored 19 points off the front 9 with a 44 - 9 over par. Hit a birdie on the third hole so well pleased about that! Fairway wasn't exactly great, little brownish and pretty hard. The greens were very fast, dry and considering the heavy rain we had this morning, i expected it to be pretty soft but nope!

I'm starting to think you are one John! All your recent messages on threads saying you can't hit more than 100 yards these days yet you're shooting low 80s, so misleading!

Congratulations though, i'm still waiting for my first sub-85!

Jamie, that has indeed been the case for quite some time now but I finally made a couple of changes that have allowed me to be more competitive.

Providing I do not fall back into my bad old ways then things should really improve from now on.

Darren, I offered my final spot to David as he was desperate to make the final and I felt a little bit guilty beating him on countback at Wokefield. I am quite sure he wll do well.
