Hey all,

thinking of joining a golf club either Tydd St Giles or Colmworth just wondering if anyone on here are members at either? Can get Tydd for £225 p/a at my age (20), which is quite good I think and the course is lovely, just after opinions of members if there are any?

Pat

Patrick,

Looking at the web site I am beyond amazed, but possibly not for the reasons one might imagine:

I lived a mile away from that location for almost all of the 1980s. A remote area where the only sport was angling, budgie breeding, and annual wellie wanging at the village fair.

Without going into detail, for approx. six years I was refused planning permission over a simple issue which would have had no impact on the environment, but was consistently told that fen land was a very precious resource and every square metre had to be preserved for farmers, and their labourers.

Lo and behold - a few years later they grant permission for hundreds of acres of grade 1 acricultural land to be turned into what appears to be a sporting paradise! I will refrain from stating my immediate suspicion.

Patrick, the membership deal on offer appears fabulous, so why not grab it and befriend other new members and enjoy yourself? If you have any reservations then first play a round or two as a guest.

Grab life by the throat whilst you are young. Time is fleeting and very precious.

P.S. Colmworth G.C. is located 60 miles away, and looking at its web site, I would guess owned by the same company that owns Tydd GC. Are you (directly or indirectly) a marketing chap for such company?

Haha, no I'm not But yeah a good price I think I will be signing up on pay day at Tydd. And that story is crazy, how times change, eh?

Yes, some bunkers you can stand in and be faced with the lip near your chest (and i'm 6'5", so you imagine!!)

20 and 6ft 5 your going to be one big bugger.

Sanders you should take him under your wing think how far he could hit the ball at that height.

Gary,

I was thinking that myself.

But some big golfers are slower than turnips. It's co-ordination / muscle speed that matters rather than size.

But the guys I face in the USA are often blessed with both!

At 5ft 9ins I of course use heel risers.

lol turnips, I know what you mean. When I connect well, I hit my clubs far, its just concentration or lack of at the minute that is making me score rubbish, especially after hitting a good tee shot then getting carried away and ballsing up the 2nd/3rd.
