Does anyone have any idea why i'd play some excellent golf last year, had plenty of practice this year, yet can't hit a ball for toffee.  As far as im aware my swing is still the same, yet im struggling to hit the ball straight.  When I do have a resonably good round my putting is terrible.  I play cack-handed and would appreciate any tips as to why this year I am pulling alot of my drives left.  Also any iron below a 5 I have a tendency to pull left, your help would be much appreciated.  It's not so much a confidence thing, perhaps with the putting, but I always approach a course I play often, try my best but I seem to hit 1 good shot, 3 bad .  Would changing my stance help?

Hi Kenny, quite a bit going on there a video posted up would help us to analyze.I would also suggest you could visit our  resedient teaching Pro Steve Cowle who is not that far from you in Binsted, Hampshire. Good luck.

I'd find your nearest PGA pro and get a lesson.

There could be many reasons for your loss of form, but I have always found a lesson is the quickest fix for me when things start to go wrong.

Just for information John G, Steve Cowle is currently a playing Professional on tour and has remained at this site unlike others that have come and gone, so if he's nearby well worth having a word with.

Speaking as someone who goes through this at least once a year. Go see a pro. This last few weeks I have struggled with everything in the bag no power no penetration hit fat hit thin etc. Fault I was moving my head. Yesterday played 14 holes had 8 Pars 5 bogeys and a double bogey playing 3 off the tee. So all is not lost, just get some good advice.

Thanks for the plug guys

Hi Kenny,

Do you play cac handed or just putt cac handed? Sounds to me like you have a few issues and need to get some constructive goals and swing analysis rather than searching for quick fixes. If you set a program for improvement it is easier to stick to.

Where in west sussex are you?

Hi Kenny.

I've been suffering with the same thing; no rhythm, timing out, topping, slicing (normal shot shape is a draw), poor short game, the lot.  It's an awful feeling.  However, I went out after work tonight, didn't feel like I was doing anything different and it all (apart from the putting) clicked back into place and shot a personal best 82.

Don't give up hope.  As they say about footballers, form is temporary

Alright Steve I am indeed and cack-hander and have played this way since I used to hit a few balls when I was younger - play cicket the same - I think if I tried converting to the proper way i'd only be able to hit the ball about 30/40yrds because it feels so unnatural to me - I think I would benefit from some lessons, potentials their but I need to find a suitable routine to follow - I have no trouble hitting the ball a fair distance, when I catch it right!  I'll have to start marking down my GIR stats.  Played last week, first 2 holes I was on the green in regulation the first being a par 4, 4 putted for a double bogey, the 2nd being a par 3, putted for bogey, 10 shots on first 2 holes, 7 of them putts, you can draw your own conclusions! - Im in Crawley...
