Having put in just over 400 rounds of golf on my golf software I now think that my stats are going to be pretty accurate. The two worse stats for me are fairways in regulation (FIR) and penalty shots. Looking back over my rounds for this year most of the penalty shots are coming from a poor tee shot. So I seriously need to sort out my driving. My handicap on here is 12 but my software says I am playing to a 19 handicap for FIR and a 24 handicap in penalty shots!!! If I could hit more fairways then the number of penalty shots would also come down and then I could work on sorting out my sand saves!!! Russ |

It may not just be your driver Russ, do you take a 3 wood when you need to (course management) or is it always the driver?? |

Russ I feel for you. A few years ago I stood on the tee and ripped it Driver 4 wood 1 or 2 iron made no difference fairway or first cut at the very worst. How it is just the opposite I seem to be in the middle of the fairway so infrequently its like new territory. Take yesterday played with my best mate (7 Handicapper) 1st hole rh edge but on the short stuff. Second par 3 4 foot off green left, 3rd hole masive pull hook lost ball 4th 3 Wood massive slice 5th fairway, and thats how it went all the round. When I get back from holiday its lesson time again. I will just add that my actual ball striking is very solid. |

Russ I've got the opposite problem to you. Was told on Saturday by my Pros before I went off to play in a Competition that my Swing looked so solid and I was striking the ball ahead of what my handicap should be. 87 shots later I returned to the range and the Pros and asked why I'd shot such a horrendous score with a swing that supposedly was so good. They asked me to describe my round and after I'd got to the 6th hole one Pro stopped me and pointed over at the Chipping Green and said I needed to spend more time there now then I do on the actual range. Basically my round consisted of about 3 Pars or 4 Pars which came from the holes I hit the Greens in Regulation. The next bunch of holes were then all single bogeys come from missing the greens in regulation hitting a chip shot and then two putting from where the chip finished. Then I think I also threw in 2 or 3 Double Bogeys where I three putted after failing to two putt from where my Chips had finished. Basically I'm having a nightmare getting the ball close when I've missed the green. I've changed my wedges, changed balls. I can't seem to get the ball to grab and stop releasing out on the surface. I'm always finishing past the hole and not at a comfortable distance where I can hole a putt coming back |

My last two rounds have ended in disaster, because of my short game..I've not practised it in a long while, so it's my own fault |

better off 2oo yards down the middle than 250 yards in the jungle, always give yourself a chance with your next shot thats the key! |
