Hoping to have a Scottish qualifier for this year's Golfshake Open event and have identified a number of potential courses around either Glasgow or Edinburgh.

If you are based in Scotland and interested in playing please let me know/or post your location so we can try and get the popular consensus.  Likely to be around July time.

Have messaged a few people and got couple of private messages back saying keep them upto date with when it will be and any other information. They said couple of freinds of theirs would prob be intrested too. The ones who sent a message to me were from near Glasgow. They are already registared with Golfshake. I went through local players and sent them a message with buddy request and they got back to me that way. Just in case they didnt read e-mail or look at forums.

hi,

i and a few of my mates would be interested in this, we are from the aberdeen area but anywhere on the train line (or sensibly close anyway) would be ok as then we could make a day of it.

 cheers, neil.

I'm up for this. I live in Fife so Edinburgh good. Perhaps dalmahoy is a good mid-way point for most as on West Side of edinburgh and near airport too? The east course may be tough on 28 handicappers but we could play middle tees rather than any at the back. I could arrange Elie or even The Dukes at St andrews if you wanted a nice course in this neck of the woods. Keep me posted.

Sounds like a great idea and Dalmahoy would be ideal, the West course is a good test but not to tough and some fantastic scenery to view.

I too am in the Aberdeen area and would be interested in a Scottish event

Depending when - would probably like to stay and play - and bring my wife who also plays

Please keep me updated

PS - didn't think that much of front nine at Dalmahoy east when we played it

Hi,

i live in the central region, would be very interested in this event.  i would recommend the Westerwood at Cumbernauld for a decent venue.

Cheers

Sounds like a fine idea!  I can enquire about cost for having this at my GC in East Lothian (Craigielaw) if necessary.  Depending on numbers they can assist with putting on a bbq afterwards. But I guess if absolutely required I could dust off the passport and head west ...

I would have agreed with Steve Harvey about Westerwood, but having played there last weekend the greens are in a terrible condition.

Not a patch on how it was playing last year.

Hopefully with a bit of hard work they will be able to improve them.

I'm coming from Livingston so anywhere will do for me.

There are a heck of a lot of good courses in the central region though.

If anyone could wangle as on to Archerfield near North Berwick we would all be in for a hell of a treat :-)

Hi to all. I stay in Greenock and if the Scottish event is towards the east coast then i was thinking of just staying the night in a B&B near the course. Was just posting to see if anyone else was thinking of staying over and if so we could all arrange to split into pairs etc to get the rooms on a better deal. If we get them on our own it would prob cost the same ( Single room supplement ) if was split between two.

I know some peolple might not be comfortable sharing with a stranger. I am ok with it if anyone looking to split the price for a room once we know where and when.

Aargh!  Actually persuaded Mrs H that we could go up to Edinburgh for this one, she can see the relatives, I can do the golf and we could have a bit of a break.  What happens?  We're on holiday in France!  Yet another qualifier I can't make....
