Was there also: -
"These USGA greens are rubbish"
"These modern courses are just too long"
"You have to be able to hit the ball miles to be able to score on these corporate courses"
"Ooo my back/knees/hips"
If there was, I might have an idea who came second

Well done Dean on organising a great first qualifier. Great course, great weather and great company out on the course.

There is nothing better than spending a nice sunny day on a good golf course and in good company and being fortunate enough to get in the frame is an added bonus which was most unexpected Dean and Marc looked to be in a very strong position after the front nine but fell away on the back nine a little, leaving the door slightly ajar for me to come up on the inside, so to speak. I was very impressed with the way Darren R, struck the ball, and I was pleased to see that my previous advice had sunk in completely and not a slice in sight all day.
One little anecdote, we were playing the 11th and myself and Darren both hit drives down the right hand side and very close together. A large pond lay on the left and I decided to lay up with an 8 iron so that I took the pond out of play. Darren had a similar idea to me but for some apparent reason he layed up with a five iron, straight into the pond. This was the hole for the longest drive and I can tell you that my second shot 8 iron finished only just in front of Chris Hollesons winning tee shot of some 280 odd yards.
This is the first time that I have been fortunate enough for the countback rules to be in my favour, but on reflection I feel that taking the back nine score is not the best way to decide a tie. I feel that the lower handicap player has shot the best golf over the 18 holes and should automatically be given the position.
Thanks Dean for a great and well organised day.
