Jubilee Cup Success

Posted by: user20126 [FORUM MODERATOR] | Sat 27th Mar 2010 23:04 | Last Reply

Stapleford Abbotts GC played Lexdon Wood GC in the first game of this years Jubilee Cup.

I was a reserve for my golf club last year when they won the cup.

This year I did much better and qualified to be in the team, my only problem was that I won the midweek medal two weeks ago and it dropped my club handicap down to 16, so that meant I had to be a single player and not in the pairs.

So today I stepped onto the first tee to represent my golf club.

The result was a win for me 2 and 1.

I played well and my opponent had a poor start so I found myself 5 up after seven holes.

My opponent had a much better back nine and so the game was on.

Looking forward to my next game which is away to Burnham-On-Crouch GC at the beginning of May.

Overall we won the match 8 - 1.

Thank you Dave.

I don't know if this would be the same for everyone, but playing these team games against other clubs has certainly helped my game.

Last year I was in the Norman Plum team and a reserve for the Jubilee Cup team, played two games, one win, one loss, but that was playing in the pairs.

I don't quite know why but I always seem to play well when I play these games.  Maybe I concentrate a bit more than when I play in a friendly game, who knows!

Russ
