I am heading to Portugal in July with the brother in law and father in law and the wives and kids and granny are coming along as well. hence we require somewhere that will allow us toi play lots of golf, while also being close to all the action so that the rest of the team will be happy. Having never been to Portugal before I would be grateful for any pointers that anyone could give.

Peter..Which part of Portugal?

If you like I can send you a golfing booklet, that lists the courses to play. No idea of costs for July, as it is peak period. Book through your hotel as they will give you a better rate.

One word of warning..I went in July one year and it is VERY hot playing golf out there then. It was in the 40's

I'm heading off out there in 2 weeks.  I can try and find out prices if you can let me know where you will be staying

You can't go wrong staying in Villamoura. I've been on a golf package there before with a society so the games were prebooked. However have been 'with the family' and there are some less expensive courses around there too where you can turn up and play.

Try Lisbon / Estoril area, it's a little cooler than the Algarve region, and a little less 'lads on tour'.

Alvor (Pestana Group) is definately not a "Lads on tour place" which is why we go Jonny, but that is in Feb not July.......................
