Going away for a week with the family at the end of May, to just outside Arbroath.

Not far from the biggies like Carnoustie and St Andrews, but It's a family holiday and I don't really want to spend more than £50 on a round. Any suggestions?

Letham Grange. Two really good courses, and it is just 5minutes out of Arbroath. £50 is the most you will pay, but you can get on the Glens course for just over £30

But it depends what you are looking for really, there is a good mix of links and parkland/heathland courses locally. Arbroath Golf Course is an old fashioned links course, always in great condition. But its a bit plain. Also there are three courses at Carnoustie, the Burnside is a really good little course, and shouldnt be too expensive.

There are literally dozens of courses in the area, if you dont mind driving over into Fife there are another 4 or 5 just over the Tay.

We're staying a mile form Letham, that would definately work. Might try a links while I'm there too.

Well we played Monrose and Letham Grange. Had some fantastic weather.

I struggled at Letham, but shot a creditable 86 at Montrose.

Both great courses for different reasons, but my favourite was Montrose.

A couple of Letham Grange, the Old Course.

$If you find yourself in this neck of the woods, they are both well worth a go.

I loved Montrose. JP would love it. Nice traditional links, and not too long.
