As you are no doubt aware, this is the first day of the Ryder Cup. Naturally, I have already booked the day off work to get a game in before watching the coverage - long live Sky Plus/Virgin Media!!

I am considering organising a small event, possibly team matchplay depending on the amount of interest.

The game will certainly be in the midlands which is fair to all concerned! (Dont' start that thread again!)

Just post up if you would be interested, wouldn't be looking to spend more than £35-£40 P/Person on a venue.

Thanks for reading.

I would definitely be interested David, Also with it being October should get a decent winter deal.

I'd like to play a course I haven't played before like the Forest of Arden or something along those lines.

Paul.

I'd be up for that David.  I have played FoA before but only once and ages ago so quite keen on that as a venue too.  However, as I'm based in the Midlands anywhere would be good.

I will surely participate, wherever you decide to play, but why not have a look at a course in the top one hundred like Copt Heath golf club. A fantastic traditional course and well respected.

They take societies winter and summer.

Hollinwell and Woodhall spa Look very nice also, Kid in a sweet shop

Little Aston & Copt heath also get my vote.

All the top amateur competitions are played on the best quality courses, David, that is how I got to play so many of them. Little Aston is a quality parkland course on the English Major amateur circuit.

I would love to go back and play there again, we will have to work something out.

Perhaps we could find two more and do this:

The putting green looks good.  My home club has a similar set up but the putting green is not quite as impressive!

Update....

Little Aston at over £80 per person is a little on the expensive side. We have a shortlist:-

West Midlands GC

Broadway GC (pictured in this months Golf Monthly)

Cleobury Mortimer (27 holer) 9 holes, brunch and then 18 holes (my preference) and will cost about £35 for a day ticket, buy your own food.

I will need deposits of £15 per person, let me know your interest and I will set up an event.

David,

John,Chris and myself played Cleobury last year on a Monday, Lovely course. We had a day ticket for £15 and managed 36 holes. £5 for a lovely breakfast also. Do they still have that deal going?

Paul.

I think so, it's called the Monday Madness. £15 for a day ticket is superb quality. This course has some of the best greens I have ever putted on & in the summer this course has spectacular views. One of the signature holes is this one, a shot par3 but from an elevated green & water all along the green can make even the greatest golfer think twice.

6th hole.

If anyone was planning on travelling down the night before they have about 8 cottages situated by the course.

Update.

Its all sorted for Friday 1st October  first tee for 9 holes is approx 9:30am, return to clubhouse for a snack and sort out the order of play for the afternoon which will be on the remaining 18 holes.

Venue - Cleobury Mortimer GC - they have a website if you want more info.

I will put and event  on this site to register, 20 players, £30 per person and I would need £10 deposit to be paid upon registration. PM for my address to send cheques.

If the split works out right we may be able to make it another N V S style team event.

Due to popular demand this event will be a pairs better ball match played over 27 holes (3 different 9 hole course). To be fair to the lower handicappers it will be a bogey competition of 3/4 hcp.

If you are not sure what bogey is:  a net par scores 0, net birdie or better is - and a net bogey or worse is a +. You are therefore essentially playing a match against the course the idea being to come in with a minus figure!

Sorry to those who already know.

I will update the events page
