The motion of the right arm is monitored only through the activity of the right elbow. We could say the right elbow controls the right arm, by both it's location to the plane, and when it expands.

What is in your book Wayne - your posting swing tips each day so I am keen to learn what method they have taught you to teach.

A lot of guys are teaching a body swing, where the arms are passive to the rotation of the core (persoanlly that resonates with me) and it reads like the method you were shown is arms controlled swing?

Or an elbow controlled swing

Jonny I'm actually posting "Thoughts of the day", and I don't take credit for these thoughts as they all come from "Golf Swing Secrets and Lies, Six Timeless Lessons" by Michael Hebron.

And include contributions by many eminent players past and present.

However with regard to todays thought, I disagree with your words;

**and it reads like the method you were shown is arms controlled swing?

Or an elbow controlled swing **

That is not what it say's as you well know, it merely states that where the right elbow is at anytime on the plane it will impact on the right arm and it's extension as you uncock the wrist to impact.

He is winding you up, Wayne. One cannot play golf without arms.

I know he's trying to get a debate and see whether I actually understand what I'm writing and of course I do, otherwise I wouldn't write it

I've no doubt Jonny likes to just create a little feedback for amusement but I'm happy with that John

Wayne - not winding you up mate. I trust you know 100% what you write, and it sounds like you do.

I have my own ideas of what is logical and what isn't and a lot of my own ideas are quite far away from things like the elbow controlling the motion of the right arm. That isn't to say it doesn't work.

Likewise I feel golf psychology can make a powerful impact to ones game, and I know John Pettit thinks this is mumbo jumbo; but I don't see his disagreement as 'winding me up' in any way - it's just a different way of thinking.

A debate on golfshake over the merits of different swing patterns could be good for beginners to see there are many ideas of how to swing a stick, and seeing as you have taken a course on how to teach golf, and actively post swing thoughts, it would seem as good a place as any to fire up a debate.

There is always debate over the course you took on other forums; so to have insight into what they have shown you as the method to teach could be a very interesting topic here.

It's probably a topic better suited to golfwrx; but as we have a pro with a  great record here and some guys who have played great amateur golf it could be a good melting pot of ideas.

Ok it seems I mis understood your reply's and accept that debate is good and totally believe in it, because without feedback there is no progress.

I'm attending a 7 day course starting the 20th Nov, part and parcel of the WGTF package I've signed up for which deals with NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programme) and that will enhance my personal learning and teaching skills. And in fact I have found that since I've used my learning of "Anchoring States" I have played much better and with more focus, so this course (if I pass) will make me a NLP practitioner and further my coaching CV.

What's your thoughts on NLP????

Sounds like TGM wayne - is that correct?

Re NLP - my opinion is open but I probably side on skepticism to be honest - my opinions are often science based (rather than on new age ideas), and as NLP is not recognized by science it sits in the same jar as homeopathy and alternative treatments; but if it works (even as a placebo) then I think that's great; it just depends how it's sold to the client.
