Hi Guys and Gals, I am thinking of buying a gap wedge, I play with Ping G10 Irons, and was wondering whether I shoud stick with a Ping wedge or maybe try the Nike BV wedge.

I would appreciate any comments or advice.

Regards

Graham

Graham, do you mean SV? I have a 56* and 60* and can't say enough about them. However you've got to keep on top of them because if you skull one it'll go 100yds +.

In terms of feel, how they sit on the turf, how you can open the clubface and get a fullish swing... inspires confidence.

I've got CG14's.  Great clubs and I nearly went for the Ping's as it was close between the two.  Don't wory about what you've got in your bag as the moment, just try as many as you can until you decide on which ones you like best.

Graham,

I have been using the Ping TourW wedges, 60, 56 and 52, for a year or so now really rate them. Have tried Vokeys and think they're "clunky" in comparison.

I Believe the G10's are a great set of clubs , but as for wedges , go try some out , if you can everyone has own personal preference , i myself carry 4 wedges , 47 pitch , 51 gap , 56 sand and 60 lob , gives me varying distnces from 135 yards and in , hope this helps

cheers G

Interesting with the 64 from a bunker.....was thinking about buying a cheap dunlop 64 just to get the ball out the bunker with...save getting sand in my 60s grooves.

does it work well?

Greg, yes I use it from the green side bunkers (tho' not exclusively...if the lip on the bunker has not been maintained I've used a putter out of a bunker) and I got it for the same reason you mention.

Greg the 64 degree is a great club to use, but be careful if you open the blade too much as you will find the ball firmly lodge in your right nostril

I put this in the wrong post yesterday.....

I got one of those 64deg Dunlops today...£7.99......! but I've only heard quite good reviews of them, even if they cost £25 they would be good value, at 7.99 I'm not losing much if I don't get along with it

I used it today without testing it first......my my it doesn't go very far but gets up very quickly

I bought a cheapie lob wedge awhile ago. Then went the next few rounds without having a need to use it. I found that I then started to use it when I didn't really need to just to justify my carrying it to myself. I was chipping and trying to lob shots when there was not a thing to go over. I had a couple of good strikes which landed middle of green with no roll and suddenly I thought I was Phil Mickleson. The next several sculled, duffed and thinned shots soon brought me back to earth! I quite often leave it out of the bag now.

There's no doubt there's a downside to them however I can't play Moor Allerton without them.
