Hi Lewis, a very good way to start your life as a golfer Get the lessons in early before too many bad habits form. Good luck with the lessons. Keep us updated as to your progression. |

Lewis, I would have thought any pro or asst. pro attached to Fulford would know his onions. Don't be afraid to ask him questions and as you're starting out practice as much as you can after each lesson. Good luck. |

Well - back from my first lesson....obviously it was going to be very basic as I'm a total novice........ BUT what a difference !
We only really worked on my grip and stance, by then end of our lesson I was hitting 7 to 9 irons straight, true and a nice distance without really trying to hit it hard. There's certainly problems in my swing to work on but I was happy how I was striking the ball at the end. I didn't really get told anything that I haven't read but I think it's easier to take it in when somebody is there telling you and you're able to put it into action as you're learning |

Nice one Lewis. Keep practicing that grip and stance until it becomes second nature. Get those basics right and pretty much everything else will become easier to learn. One point you made is that you were getting a nice distance without trying to hit it hard. Hold that thought. It's the club that does the work. We merely guide the club to the ball. Good luck with your lessons and just keep practicing everything the pro tells you. It's a bit like driving a car, i.e. One step at a time and don't develop bad habits and you'll be fine. |
