i'll seconf that Darren,

some of the views & layout of the holes is something else & for £15 a round you can't beat it. John P said to me after playing here you'll think it leaves the PGA standing & I have to agree with him.

Cracking course, only down side is the hike between the 1st and 2nd and 8th, 9th and 10th.  Greens can be very quick, especially if they decide to give them a shave before the comp.

Dave,

would have loved the chance to come & play again to see if I could birdie the 9th again .

My better half though has already got in first & is going to Alton Towers (bleedin cheek) so I'm doing the school runs.

Good luck though & hope the good weather holds out.

John.

I played the course last night and it's in good nick.  Fairways are lush but running well and the rough is deep but playable.  The greens have a lot of subtle "why the hell did it move that way?" breaks too, but were playing a little slower than usual (still quick though) as they need a shave.  They had a large corporate day on which had tied up the entire course from 8:00am until 6:00pm with a shotgun start, so they may have left them longer to protect them from a heavy days play and they could be cut before Friday.  My one niggle with the course is the bunkers don't have much sand in them and it's easy to bottom your wedge out when playing out of them.  Get a course planner as you would be best not taking a driver on some of the holes (9 and 14 in particular).

A word of warning.  This course is long, and not just in playing length.  There is a good walk (3-5 minutes) between 1 and 2, 8 and 9 and 9 and 10.  If you are not hale and hearty, take a buggy.  I carried around here on a warm evening and regretted it - I didn't carry again.  I played off the whites yesterday and man was it long, especially the 624 yard 10th!!!

Look forward to seeing you Friday, John

I was sensible John and took my 3 wood because it takes the bunker on the right out of play (my shot is too long) and the water too (comes up short).  I'm capable of reaching the water with my driver.

Dave - I'm up for playing off the whites.  10th is only driver, 3 wood 5 iron........

Dave,

As it's a proper individual competition i have put my handicap to 19.3 which is my official club handicap. I didn't want to go out playing with extra shots i shouldn't really have in an official competition.

It needs updating on you list that's all.

Cheers

John, what an honest fellow

Danny, did you compete in the SE event ? if not you can compete tomorrow.

Any of the WM guys need to advise they are opting out of this event unless they are using this event as the qualifier ?  Chris, Paul ??

Great day and well organised by Dave.  Cracking venue and great company.

John Standing needs to be commended for most honest golfer with the above handicap drop.  He would have finished in the 2nd div 2 spot off 21 but tied on 2nd on 34 points off the new 19 handicap but lost out on countback.
