Obviously I will delete this post once I get sufficient replies, wouldn't want any competitors to get some free ideas

Would love to know how you guys/girls all use the forums.  Have I made them too easy to navigate with various options so in reality the forum categories are ignored ?

Do you access the main index and view the categories ?

Do you use the Active Posts link, News Posts or Hot Post ?

Do you ever check out the posts with no replies via the 2nd navigation link ?

This isn't a what you would like to see, I have some feedback, but more of a use/habits type of query.

Thanks for you time.

Regards, Darren.

Darren,

I personally only use the 'active posts'. I would still like to see the most recent post in a topic at the top rather than having to scroll down every time.

John.

I click on Forum and then normally view the five topics highlighted on the right of the screen.

The I click on Active Posts to see if I have missed any other posts.

Sometimes I go onto the main forum page and view each catagory individually.

I too would like to see the five topics increased to say ten.

PS - Then, for a laugh, I sometimes go onto the 'No Replies' section and open a post, then I leave it for five minutes and leave!

Just to rub it into the person who made the post....

Active post generally, then when every one has gone to bed, I take a wander through the past posts, the stickies, the equipment reviews, a few course reviews ... oh my god, I gotta get a life!

Russ, I can do this but aren't I making the forums to easy to use and then some interesting topics that may have not had a reply get ignored ?

Need to bring back having the 5 most recently posted topics still showing when you have a post open.  Meant you could read a topic and click on the next one without having to go back to the main page.

Or, even better, could you add a 'Next Topic' and 'Previous Topic' link......

Darren,

How about having a link to an RSS feed so we can keep an eye on things via our desktop etc??

Dave,

basically it means you can view the most recent 5 topics from another application without having to login or goto the golfshake website. I think Outlook has this facility & also Firefox. This would be handy for me as I could sneakily keep in touch at work without having to look over my shoulder!!

Hope that is a bit clearer

Dennis, nope.  I'm just making things far to easy and the categories are pretty pointless

Keep them coming

Darren I mainly choose active posts then new posts, the other facility that I use regularly is the Forum Search if I'm looking for a past thread or theme.

I also echo what Chris Perry said earlier.

Yep defo make to easy then compare to other forum software

Don't worry I won't stop the ease of access just do some tweaks to improve some of the categories and maybe not so recent posts.

Kev, glad to see someone uses the search

Very rarely go past 1st page of the popular threads.

Sometimes search for favourite threads when i need a laugh. Particularly Prof Hawkins thesis on the sound a ball makes when you drop it on concrete and my other favourite thread (cant remember who it was) about advice on which clubs should go in which slot in the bag, totally pointless but very ammusing.

Darren, I've used the search facility a few times but find it doesn't work that well!

I've searched for people but their names don't come up even though I know they are members here.

The same when looking for an old post, sometimes I don't know the full title and it appears that I cannot use the *

Russ, I can't do everything   it's just a simple text search on title and post.

Would you like a person search ?

Darren,

Can't you add in a 'wildcard' search for title etc??

John.
