Handicap Calculation

Posted by: user13391 | Sat 30th Sep 2006 16:33 | Last Reply

I'm not normally bothered about how the handicap is worked out, but after reading the help page on GST I am a bit confused.

At the start of my round today my handicap was 9.6. I played on a course with an SSS of 71. I scored 79 with two triple bogeys on par 4s. Following the calculation method on the help page, gross score less SSS = 8, then adjust by two shots for the two triple bogeys = 6. Deduct my current handicap of 10 gives me -4. I was therefore expecting a cut of -0.8 (-0.2 for each shot below zero). My actual cut was -0.4. Can anyone explain this to me please?

Thanks Christopher. You are right! I hadn't realised that you take handicap into account before making any adjustments.

My fault, will update the info page which is now out of date and doesn't include the nett score part.
