Makes me feel a bit better as I've recently being taking two attempts to get out of some bunkers. I also saw an interesting bunker incident last Monday. I was following a three ball. One of them went into a green side bunker with the flag cut fairly close to the edge of the green near the bunker. One of his playing partners tended the flag and the chap hitting the shot must have nipped it off a bit clean as it flew out and would have missed the green on the far side had the shot not hit the bloke tending the flag in the stomach. The ball dropped at his feet. The odd thing was there was no great reaction from any of the players. From 150 yards away there was no obvious hilarity or condolenses and apologies. The player just left the bunker and failed to drop the three footer he had been left. I am not sure what the rules are about penalties for such a situation. Is it no penalty and the chap missed the putt out of embarassment at his outrageous fortune? |

Depends on the exact situation Jon..
Rule 17-2 or 17-3 applies in this case |
