I have been trying this new sculptured glove for Long Drive, but at the moment the jury is out. Is it legal for golf, and has anyone else tried it?

Is is an expensive glove and the most that one can get off the usual competitive price is £1.00, and such is not on eBay. I won't mention the seller.

One thing  clear is that it wears extremely well and is made of top quality car. leather. Possibly the best wearing glove that I have tested for dry conditions.

It does however make one's hand sweat more than normal due to the sculptured padding.

So far, after a few hundred hits, I have not noticed any grip or hitting improvement, but having said that nor am I aware that the padding is proving to be a nuisance. I cannot test it properly yet as my swing in currently not properly grooved.

I am convinced about the quality materials, but remain to be convinced that the design is necessary.

I personally consider that the type of grip glued onto one's club to be far more important that a bit of glove padding. But, I may change my mind after further testing.

Anyone got any views after personally testing this latest piece of golf science?

Have you got a link to the glove manufacturer Viper?

Hello John T,

What is a 'link?' Please excuse my ignorance? I occasionally make jokes about me being a 'computer expert' because the world and his dog knows that I am clueless.

If you mean a link to a www. site then "No." Just type in 'Bionic Golf Gloves' using Google and a plethora of choices will be listed. I dare not name my supplier in case I get accused of spamming.  (The term reminds me of being fed spam - tinned meat - as a boy).

If on the other hand you ask if I am linked to the manufactuer vis a vis employment, commission, sponsorship or similar then definitely not!

My sponsors are VGS (to the sum of one polo shirt) and Footjoy shoes to the sum of one pair of golf shoes.  I even get screamed at if I cross the white line at my empty local driving range to pick up a loose ball!

Unlike my overseas L.D. cousins I do not receive a free use of a BMW, sponsored clubs, flights, hotels etc. It's just me and my overdraft.

Checked these out the other day, and I think I'll invest in one to give it a try.

My swing is starting to slip back into the groove again and I have hit a few more hundred balls using both the bionic glove and a regular top quality glove S Rixon. My latest testing has therefore become more meaningful.

I can find no difference in quality of grip, or distance hit between both types of glove.

Maybe there might be a difference if I did not use a top qualty oversize grip - Lamkin Torsion Tour Series? Don't know.

Paul,

Great news, well done!

But was it the glove that directly caused the improvement?

Please let us all know what happened after you have played 3 more rounds, and confirm whether or not  you actually felt a better grip on your club? Was the glove comfortable, or did it make your hand perspire more?

I sincerely hope that the trend continues!

Best wishes.

hi viper

Dont recall it making my hand perspire any more than wearing any other glove. I did feel i had a better grip on the club. The padding on the palm seemed to loosen my grip a bit. I have spent a lot of money on new clubs etc lately so it could just be a combination of that. Who knows.

i dont wish to be the fly in the oitment but....

to ensure that all areas of a test are equally surely you would need a robotic arm of some type no?

perhaps and this is deffo the one i believe is the right assumptiion the glove is a confidence boost and we all know that is what makes us play better after all!!

Paul keep up the good work and Viper good luck in the LD championsships!
