Tiger out. Interesting outcomes for British Open and Ryder Cup

I also have Setanta specifically for the US PGA tour and I see no need to keep that subscription either. I'll be more than happy to watch the European Tour play on these great courses this side of the pond. As for Tiger Woods, this is totally disheartening at best. I love watching this guy play and it was he who after one year watching him on TV that I decided to get back into the game after a 25 year hiatus. What was great for me is that I just moved here from Boston (home of the Red Sox and Celtics champions) and I was able to play golf on weekends now and watch the tour on late night TV here live. Had the best of both worlds.

He was told at the age of 17 that unless he drastically changed his technique he's be in hospital by the time he's 30 with either a knackered back or knees. The clock was ticking, and the reality of today's news has come to pass. Anyhow, I digress once again, but I'll still be watching like I did for the past 2 months.

I didn't even watch the Players Championship at Sawgrass like I normally would. I just feel a bit bored by the Golf scene. Tiger has the ability to make the tournaments interesting and exciting. If he doesn't play then I don't watch, its as simple as that. At the end of the day I don't want to watch the 2nd Best Players in the World, I want to watch the Best Player.

I know hes fantastic and has done wonders for golf but I dont think its good for one player/team to dominate a sport. I suspect he will now become the Michael Owen of golf with injuries aplenty over the next few years. The competitons might well be more exciting without him - the same as formula one is now better without Schumacher.

And as for the Ryder Cup, his record there is woeful to say the least, so I think that the Yanks now have a better chance of winning it without him. If Mickleson got injured too, they'd walk it. Those 2 are Europes best wildcards lol
