 CROOKHILL PARK SOUTH YORKSHIRE

Saturday 24th may 2008 and 12 members of the golfshake crew attended the first cup of the empress series the lucky winner was to be presented with a 22in resin golfer on a nice wooden base with the empress open emblum nicely present on the front.

the course was in quite good condition given a municipal run buy the local council, the members all gathered together in the club house, had there soup and sarnies tea and coffee, collected there little goodie bags and started making there way to the first tee and putting green.

on the first tee all member watching and mister hawkins hit a great drive straight down the middle just right of the large tree starting the day with a par well done!!!

where on the second and the wind is coming from various directions quite difficult dog leg to the right, lined trees all the way down push or pull and trouble was awaiting, comment of this is to be a tuff day.

nearest pin was won by ian banks  hole three a raised tee approx 150ish yards shooting on to an elevated green. his best shot of the day though had to be his chip in on the third for a net eagle from 60-70 yards out.

longest drive was won by malcolm fell not one of golfshake members with a drive over 250yards

team event was won by team two on count back with a combined score of 31 equal with team one.

Cheers Paul, great day out.

Would just like to thank you for the flattering description of the first drive and very diplomatically omitted that the drive from the second tee went 10 yards left into the bushes.

Too true Paul, if we got them all perfect it would be boring wouldn't it!  Pretty impressive seeing Ian and Al going for the drives though.

May make an effort to get up to your neck of the woods more often if you're up for a game, only took 45 minutes to get home - and an hour up in the pre-bank holiday traffic.  Cracking little course and even the cider swilling locals kept quite when we teed off!

I will try and arrange a game at Rotherham, how much notice do you need? I have a few meetings and games to play in Scotland, but will organise one before the end of july. Does anyone have a preference for a day? Weekends are busy, so a week day is better. As far as the course goes, i played 6 holes yesterday and the course is immaculate. Fast greens, nut not rock hard. You can hit a high shot in and the ball will stop within a foot, even the odd back spin.

Once again thanks for a grat day out Paul and look forward to seeing you on Monday.

Al
