I do hope the "prize money" is in the form of professional shiop vouchers, rather than cash?

I think it's below the limits if you are referring to the 'amateur' status price allowance

I wasn't aware there was an allowance. The rules, as I understood them, was that an amateur player cannot receive renumeration for playing in or winning a tournament. They can however win vouchers to spend in a pro-shop, or a non-cash prize, not exceeding a certain value (in the USA it's 7500usd, but I can't find figures for Europe).

The following is from the Golf Wikipaedia site, under "Rules & other regulations": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golf

There are strict regulations regarding the amateur status of golfers.[23] Essentially, everybody who has ever received payment or compensation for giving instruction or played golf for money is not considered an amateur and may not participate in competitions limited solely to amateurs. However amateur golfers may receive expenses which comply with strict guidelines and they may accept non-cash prizes within the limits established by the Rules of Amateur Status.

The Wiki could be out of date, adn the R&A site is a bit sparse on factual info regarding this subject. I just thought I'd better highlight it before anyone gets into hot water for running the comp, or playing in it and winning a prize.

Some of my grey matter still works then at least lol. If the organisers just bought American Golf vouchers or something similar, then it'd all be gravy.

You lot do make things complicated don't you.  The winner gets entered into a prize draw - effectively winning a book of 10 raffle tickets each with a face value of 0.01p cash.  The draw is then made and the lucky winner gets the cash - but as the competition winner is the only entrant then it's a forgone conclusion.  Apparently it needs to be more then one ticket to comply with the gambling rules.  The same then goes for the second, third etc placed players.
