What the........#2
Was flicking through Todays Golfer and came across an article about the new, customisable drivers. The icing on the cake of the trio on test, at a buttock clenching £649, is the TaylorMade CGB Max, possibly one of the best wallet lightening tools I've ever seen. It's basically a driver head with 3 different interchangeable shafts and 9 (yes nine) adjustable weights in the head. Apparently giving '1,071 different launch conditions', it allows you to change the club to suit conditions, although obviously only before, not during, a round (imagine waiting on a tee as the group in front rebuild their drivers!).
My question is who on earth is this aimed at? A low handicapper will probably have already had their clubs modified to suit them and will probably have a couple for different conditions. A high handicapper probably hasn't got the control or technique to utilise a fraction of the adjustability. So it must be for the mid handicapper with more money than sense. Just how cynical can you get?
