Understanding my handicap!

Posted by: user574886 | Sat 5th Jul 2014 19:16 | Last Reply

Hi all. I'm new to golf and I've just entered my last 3 scorecards to get my first handicap. The calculator on this website has given me a handicap of +13.

What does this mean? I was expecting it to say 28 or something along those lines.

All help appreciated. Dean Howell

Hi Dean

Im sure you have made a mistake when entering your rounds.

4 hole in ones during one round is fairly impressive.....

Hi Dean, Golfshake support team here.

Feel free to email us direct for further help which you can find on our help section, link below.

It does look like you have a few rounds where you have only score 1 or 2 shots which I guess is incorrect and these rounds may need deleting ?

Hi all I think I know where I've gone wrong. I think I've entered the stable ford points I scored on each hole rather than how many shots it took. So I have entered a few holes in 1 where actually I finished those holes in a bogey.

Can I erase these cards and start fresh?

Hi Dean, yes you can delete and re-enter. Drop us an email if you need further help but basically you need to do the following:

Login and access the 'My Game' section

Click the rounds link to view all rounds

Click the checkbox for all the rounds and then hit the delete button at the bottom

Add your new correct rounds

Once done access the score tracker tools and use the recalculate option to base your handicap on the 3 new correct rounds.

Any probs just email us.

Regards, Darren.

And when entering a new card, it's the total stroke on each hole that I enter not points I scored? Is that right. X

Hi Dean, I guess you've set your gender status to 'beginner' which we allow then a max handicap of 36.

Technically in the UK the max handicap is 28 for men. The above option is to provide a level playing field for all and something requested a lot for golf societies.

If you wanted to adjust for the mens max handicap then just update your gender status and do the recalc again.

Admin- Given this is posted in the help forum I've deleted any replies that aren't relevant to this query.
