Consistency

Posted by: user466742 | Mon 30th Sep 2013 09:42 | Last Reply

I need some help! Does anyone have any tips on how to improve your consistency?!? Had a round yesterday and managed 7 pars with 2 birdies & yet i still hit 16 over par.

Just to explain, I hit a 9 & a 7 on two of the easiest par 4's on the course and a 6 on a very straight forward & fairly short par 3 yet managed to Par the toughest hole on the course & birdied SI 9 & 14...both par 4's. Scored a total of 40 stable ford points too, so anything that will help would be appreciated.

Pre shot routine. Not 'pre go slow routine'

Check out Pre-Shot golf, you should find some articles on Golfshak under the Tuition > Mental game section plus this article from another Golfshake member

Just a suggestion Andrew: Possibly you look at the harder, longer holes and mentally accept that a bogey would be a good score. That said you play them thoughtfully and perhaps even conservatively. When you face a shorter more straightforward hole you look for par or better and over reach yourself. I only offer this as a suggestion, because in the past it was a failing of mine. It would appear as you are playing some good golf at times, so stick in there. Good luck!

Andrew, I think it's mile away for you but I've just got access to some places at a free psychology workshop up in Leeds ....

That's something i would of been pretty interested Darren, thanks. Unfortunately Leeds is a little bit too far from me to travel at the moment. Thanks though!
