David, it's works out well that the 2 captains are off the same handicap. Whoever wins has played the best golf, it's not often I play Mano vs Mano.

Ps, surely everyone will be using their gs handicap as not everyone has conga, which is higher in most cases. The only fair way is for all to use gs !

Tim, resorting to tactics this early in the day is the sign of a worried man. I havent been keeping my GS up to date as my new club does all online tracking on their website. Ill be playing off 19! Mind you SSS at my course is over par as its a real test of golf!

David, I am not resorting to any kind of tactics, I am merely pointing out that not everyone can fall back on a higher club handicap which is given in competition rounds off White tees; unlike the yellows we will probably be off at the Abbey. It is only my opinion, but the fairest way for all is to play off gs handicaps. ( do you think anyone will tell Darren to reduce their handicap if their club one is lower ?

Tim, matters not, we'll enjoy a pint after the game regardless.If I had been keeping my GS handicap up to date it would be the same as my Congu as most of my golf lately has been competitive, well in competitions anyway! If the chap im playing has a club handicap I would rather take that into account and if his is higher I will gladly give shots!

David, I am not trying to fall out with anyone and you are spot on when you say that we will enjoy a pint no matter what the outcome. The weekend is about fun but competitive golf, seeing old friends and making new ones.

My club handicap is 16.8, so I expect to be playing off 17. As my GS handicap is 16.4 I have only 'missed' one round for them to match from a playing point of view

And why are we playing off the yellows? The whites are the competition tees. This is a competition. We should be off the whites

I hope we are off the whites Chris, and I could be wrong but I seem to remember playing off the yellows at the abbey in the past. Darren will be one to give us the answer.

If I remember correctly Darren we played off the whites at Moor Allerton. Completely right in my opinion.

Any comp I have arranged on behalf of Golfshake (two open qualifiers, two season starters), three out of four have been off the whites. The only one that wasn't was because the club (The Belfry) told us the tee of the day was the yellows and that is where we were to play from

White tees are not just about extra distance. If set up correctly they can change the hole completely. As I said above. The white tees are competition tees. This is a competition. Therefore we should be off the whites.

Why don't you just admit you're scared to play off the big boy's tees Darren?

Don't forget people shots should be based on 3/4's of the total difference so some of them should come down (Mr Ley!)

All people should play off their club hcap if they have one otherwise you are in breach of R&A rules.

John I think it is full handicaps on sun and then 3/4 difference for 4bbb on monday. i think 3/4 would be fairer but i am pretty sure that i read somewhere that it was full allowance for singles (as always, i could be wrong )

Chris, we played blues at Moor Allerton. In between yellow and whites.

Personally, including Moor Allerton & Minchinhampton, I've never played a reasonably paced round playing off whites or equivalent when playing in a competition with the majority of payers not knowing the course. I suppose you could argue that if everyone is happy with a slightly slowed paced game then why not just play off the whites ?

Anyway, the North vs South is off the Yellows in 2012

Monday will be the usual 3/4 format.

Sunday will be full handicaps for the singles with a slightly modified scoring system to ensure it does not impact the main event on Monday.

Whats this Millichip Senior - His name is Chris - Whatever his handicap he will go all out to win as will I also a senior - You young upstarts from the south had better watch out it just may go our way on the day.
