Order of Merit - What's the scoring format?

Posted by: user33026 [FORUM MODERATOR] | Thu 22nd Mar 2012 07:05 | Last Reply

As the first round of the 2012 Order of Merit is just a few days away (getting excited!) has there been a decision on the scoring format to decide the winner of the OOM?

  • Is it total points from your best x number of rounds like last time?
  • Or is it points based on placing FedEx Cup/World Ranking style?
  • If it is FedEx Cup/World Ranking style, how are the points calculated?
  • And how many rounds count?
  • And will there be divisions like the GS Open or are we all in the same pot?
  • And is the 36 holer worth just one set of points as it's a single qualifying event?
  • Or is it two because it's two rounds on two different courses?

So many questions for those in Golfshake Towers.  Think it needs to be published before the first event though

For what it's worth, I vote for one division, points based on overall finishing position (say 10 for 1st, 8 for 2nd, 6 for 3rd, 5 for 4th etc down to 1 for 8th) with at least three rounds counting.  That would reward consistency in my opinion

Anybody else have any thoughts?

Chris, it's really simple

W_{Ato B} = int_{V_A}^{V_B}p,dV = int_{V_A}^{V_B}frac{nRT}{V}dV = nRTint_{V_A}^{V_B}frac{1}{V}dV = nRTln{frac{V_B}{V_A}}

where

W_{Ato B} = int_{V_A}^{V_B}p,dV

Common mate, keep up

i am with you Chris

Fed Ex style points system, maybe down to 15th ( to seperate final standings) over say your best 3 events.

This would determine the order of merit, but we could also have a season finale with say the top 30 finishers !

or maybe the points could tally with the number of players.

so on monday the winner would get 30 points down to the last place getting 1 point.

This would reward those that win in bigger events.

just an idea

Number crunching at the mo but yes will be points based, slightly weighted for number of entrants with your best x counting towards the final OoM.

For clarification it's counted as 2 events on Monday as it's 2 courses.
