Under new management and lots of work being done both out on the course and around the club house. A good variety of holes with some tight areas. Never ever had to play on temporary greens at any time of the year. Can get very wet under foot in the wetter months. Just the right amount of water hazards and bunkers, sand in bunkers can be rather solid at times but the club do their best to keep them playable.

Course lacks the attention to detail you expect from the on-line reviews; greens were poor and slow, grass cuttings were everywhere and to cap it all the welcome sign adjacent to the first tee stated that "golf shoes preferred but trainers acceptable at own risk" (and they even spelled 'preferred' incorrectly). For me that says it all. Give it a miss.

As a first time player at Blacknest i thought the course was in very good condition
The only downside was the number of flies around the lakes but i guess you have to expect it. Also, a very good closing hole to finish

Provides an enjoyable game of golf for mid to high handicappers.
Usually in good condition, however, some areas can be a bit soft underfoot.
Warm and friendly clubhouse.
Good Society venue.

In general the course is very good for a mdern pay and play, but suffers in wet conditions. In general the greens are in good condition, but agian owing to recent poor weather have suffered. Still great value for money.

Blacknest has been much inproved recently, and they seem to be improving further. The staff are very friendly and accomodating, and the course is getting better. Not too long, but a fair few hazards, with water and OOB. Really good deals available, and the pro shop are always aiming to please. Very relaxed atmosphere, and a good society day out.
