Golf course review of Blackmoor Golf Club

This course was originally laid out by renowned golf architect Harry Colt, some 95 years ago. It is currently ranked 78th best in England and is certainly in the top handful in Hampshire.

The course consists of two loops of nine holes created from heathland, with fairways surrounded by heather, pine, birch and oak trees. There are 5 par3s (4 of them uphill) but only 2 par5s making the layout on the short side, however, many of the par4s are doglegs which adds to the challenge.

Blackmoor is home to a number of amateur and professional competitions, including the Selborne Salver which attracts many top amateurs and has been won by the likes of Justin Rose in the past.

The green fee of £45 reflects the quality of the course but the twilight rate of £30 is decent value.

good course that is well looked after. the greens on all holes are very challenging and have to be read correctly to keep your score down. there are alot of proper dogleg holes instead of the common up and down scenario at alot of courses. it is only £25 until march so is great value for money.
