Woodlake Park Presents Charity Cheques

Woodlake Park Golf Club recently presented this year’s charity cheques totalling a fabulous £10,015.00.  As usual the Club held the Judy Wood Charity Day in June, where teams of 4 players competed for a large array of donated prizes.  In this popular event all the players entry fees are donated to charity, which ensures the maximum amount possible is raised for the area cancer hospital, Velindre in Cardiff.  This is augmented with collections on the bar and a raffle on the day.

Also, for the first time this year some 39 members of the Club & their friends also took part in a cycle ride from Brecon to Woodlake Park.  Despite what was probably the worst weather of the Summer, with great determination and commitment all cyclists made it home and raised over £4,700 in the process.  Half of this was donated to St. Anne’s Hospice in Newport, while half was added to the amount raised on the Judy Wood day and presented to the Velindre appeal.

This years efforts by the Club means that almost £110,000 has been raised for charity since Judy Wood started the fundraising effort in 1998.
