Thorney Park - Captains Day
From humble beginnings, last Saturday's Captains Day ended up being a roaring success!
The weather held and some great scores were returned. Here are the Mens winners:-
Nearest the pin on the 10th hole was Jim Day.
Nearest the pin on the 17th hole was Paul Tatla.
Longest drive was Jason Williams (guest). Jason was also overall guest winner.
Winning team was young Jake Doherty, Chris Kelly, James Delaney and G Pearce with 89 points.
In the Individual competition, in third place was Chris Canning with 38 points on countback. Second place went to James Delaney and the winner was Kevin Batkins with a massive 42 points.
Well done to all the winners!
A Ladies report will be forthcoming in the next eBlast.
The evening was a fantastic success and the casino night was fully embraced by many members and especially by our Pro, Matthew Potter!
More news of the day and the highlights will be posted in a later eBlast.
Thank you to all the members and their guests who made the day (and evening) such a success.
Killer Cup
Many members enjoying the previous night's festivities had to dust themselves off and go into the annual England versus the Rest of the World battle the very next morning.
The Rest of the World, captained by Nick Fanning, ably assisted by Matthew Potter and fueled with drink by Micky Magner, massacred the English, despite the fact that our recently-turned-pro Jake Canning and his dad Chris managed to lose 9 and 8 to Chris Kelly and Wayne Rawlings.
Well done to the Rest of the World. See you next year...
Course Report
The greens have been very lightly spiked and the work should not be noticeable (I've usually picked up by time I get to the green!).
Forthcoming Competitions
The November Medals will be drawn on Friday, so get your name and entry fee in before then. The Greenstaff Cup will be played the following weekend, Sunday 13th November. Please remember that this is not the usual flat £4 fee for entry. Instead members are asked to make their donation to the greenstaff, in the usual envelope, as their appreciation for all the work done and the overall excellent standard of the course.
And lastly on competitions, the Entry Sheet for the Robin Baxendale Trophy, usual fees apply, is also on the board, to be played on Sunday 20th November, weather permitting.
And Finally...
Winter looks as if it is properly upon us, so nip into the Pro Shop and stock up on your winter woolies and grab yourself a bargain!
