Galgorm Castle Offers Up Aphrodite Hills as Big Prize

Galgorm Castle Golf Club held 6 Open Stableford competitions from July – October. The events were open to Men and Ladies with a GUI or ILGU handicap and the best 4 scores from the 6 events counted towards the Order of Merit with the overall winner winning a trip for 2 people to the 5 star Aphrodite Hills Resort, Cyprus. The trip included 4 nights accommodation and one round of golf for 2 players including buggy on the Championship Course which staged the PGA Europro Tour Championship.

There were over 300 players who played in the 6 events and over 200 visitors from various golf clubs throughout the whole of Ireland. There were separate prizes for each event and there were a lot of changes on the Order of Merit.

The top 3 players all represented Galgorm Castle Golf Club with Mal Bellew moving up to third position in the final event with a total of 139 points. Runner up in the Order of Merit was Kerry Dunlop with a total of 145 points and the winner with a superb total of 151 points was 1 handicapper Michael Reid.

For the rest of you budding golfers all is not lost as another opportunity for you to win a trip to Aphrodite Hills Resort. Galgorm Castle will be staging 15 Open Days over the Winter months from November – April. There are 9 Mens and Ladies Stableford competitions and the dates are: Sunday 21st November, Sunday 5th December, Monday 27th December, Tuesday 28th December, Sunday 2nd January, Sunday 6th February, Sunday 13th March, Thursday 17th March and Sunday 3rd April. The entry fee is £12.00 per person for each event.

As part of the Race to Aphrodite Hills there are 6 Pro Am Winter Series. Each fourball should consist of one PGA Professional or Assistant and 3 amateur golfers. Amateur golfers with no PGA Professional may still
take part in the event. The dates are: Friday 12th November, Friday 10th December, Friday 7th January, Friday 11th February, Friday 11th March and Friday 8th April. The entry fee is £15.00 per person for each event.
