Salgados Palm Village Offers The Perfect Algarve Golf Break

By: Liam Moore | Fri 08 Dec 2023

Golf and the Algarve are a match made in heaven, with a stunning climate complementing the selection of championship courses that reside in the region.

Golfers have long travelled to Portugal - and the Algarve to be exact - as the beautiful country provides many benefits. Golden beaches, basking weather, beautiful oceans, delicious food and lively nightlife, the Algarve proudly has it all.

Whilst guests will be spoiled for choice whenever they visit the Algarve, there are a few venues that elevate themselves above the rest.

The Salgados Palm Village Apartments & Suites is located in Albufeira and the 4* resort is the perfect base for a week in paradise.

Situated in the heart of the Algarve and just a short walk from Salgados beach, the Salgados Palm Village has multiple golf courses within walking distance from its premises.

Championship offerings such as Alamos, Morgado de Regueno and Salgados are located nearby, but we’ll return to that topic.

The suites and apartments are located in Herdade dos Salgados, which will take an estimated 40-minute drive from Faro Airport. More than 280 perfectly presented rooms are available at the resort, all of which are equipped with the amenities expected for a lavish stay.

The 24-hour reception can speak multiple languages and the resort also hosts their own entertainment during the evenings.

Remarkably, there are 10 swimming pools dotted around the premises whilst the sprawling landscaped gardens lead straight to the beach.

Local Golf Courses

By deciding to stay at the luxury Salgados Palm Villa Apartments & Suites, you will have easy access to numerous golf courses.

Morgado Golf & Country Club first opened for play in 2003 and is one of the latest venues to open on the Algarve.

The course feels surprisingly mature despite its young age, with facilities including two outdoor putting greens, a driving range, a practice area and a fleet of golf buggies.

At 7,300 yards from the tips, the parkland layout will demand your absolute best if you wish to score well!

Alamos Golf is the shorter sister course to Morgado, but the outstanding views that overlook the hills of Serra de Monchique provide such a special memory.

The course is tight and tree-lined fairways place a premium on accuracy from the tee and on approach shots. Bunkers aren’t overly prevalent but they have been positioned strategically, so you’ll need to avoid them at all costs. What further cranks the challenge are small greens, which again highlights the need to be accurate at Alamos.

A generous driving range, chipping and putting area enable golfers to dial in their game before heading out on the course.

All three local courses are dipped in championship quality, but perhaps Salgados Golf is the best offering of the three.

The stunning environment is an idyllic setting for golf and the links-like golf course attracts heaps of international golfers annually. Water hazards can be found in their abundance at Salgados, which again places importance on accuracy and shot-making capabilities.

In 2012, the course received an injection of investment that elevated the experience found at the venue.

Albufeira

The golf will undoubtedly take the limelight, but you won’t be playing for the entire duration of your holiday, so it’s important to select the right region for the type of holiday you wish to book.

The area of Albufeira is an amazing destination in the Algarve that contains lots of things for people of all ages to partake in.

We’ll mention some reasons to visit Albufeira and what you can expect to get up to when away from the golf course.

Beaches

Salgados Beach

The collection of beaches found in Albufeira will leave any holiday destination reeling with envy.

Guests could spend their entire holidays exploring the different beaches, with over 20 of them achieving the coveted Blue Flag status.

Lots of beaches are surrounded by restaurants and cafes, whilst the more popular locations will have sunbeds available for renting.

If you’re planning to visit in the winter, then the beaches are ideal for breathtaking walks along the sand or enjoying a coffee overlooking the sea.

Kayaking

Considering the sheer number of beaches found in Albufeira, it should be relatively unsurprising to know there are many water activities that take place daily.

If you’re an adventurer who would look to explore local caves, then you can embrace your environment and book a kayak for the day.

The coastline features calm seas which is great for kayaking, and visitors can get up close with many of the caves found in the area.

Snorkelling

If you’re looking for a refreshing activity away from the sun, then you should seriously consider snorkelling - an experience that is prevalent in Albufeira.

The Atlantic coastline contains a wealth of marine life, which includes fish, crabs and even the occasional octopus!

Guests can hire equipment for the day or even book themselves on an organised snorkelling trip that is conducted by an experienced guide.

The Algarve is a wonderful area for golf and holidays, and Albufeira is one of the leading regions within the Algarve.

Alongside championship golf courses and pristine facilities is a vibrant area that contains lots of activities during the day.

Once the sun dips for the day, beautiful restaurants and bustling bars open up and provide entertainment into the early hours of the morning.
