Machrihanish Golf Club

Golfers stand on the 1st tee of Machrihanish (The Battery) and wonder why they made such a gargantuan effort to get here. But the three-hour drive from Glasgow is nothing compared to the 200-yard drive that now faces them. The 1st at Machrihanish is considered the premier opening hole in Scotland. It is a dogleg Par 4 and it is all a matter of how much Atlantic and beach you dare to play over.

During the inaugral 2007 Mulligan Cup at the K Club, Team Chivers found themselves 2-1 down to Team Parnell after the fourballs. Parnell and Warfield defeated Chivers and Broadway, Lord and Bentall took care of Scrutler and Welsh whilst Gregory and Walsh did the business (eventually) to conquer Morgan and Wilson. Ronan Keating was one of many spectators.
