The course has the distinction of being designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie, most famous as the architect of Augusta National, home of the U.S. Masters. After several changes to the sequence of holes played, mainly as a result of land acquisition for food production during the Second World War, the course has now virtually the same layout as originally designed by Dr MacKenzie.

Location: Morecambe Golf Club is very easy to find by road, whether travelling from the north or the south. Most visitors or golf coach parties will be travelling via the motorway network using the M6, which you leave at Junction 34 and head into Lancaster on the A683. Follow the signs for Morecambe and carry straight on through two large roundabouts. At the third "Shrimp" roundabout (Toby Pub & Carvery) bear right through a mini-roundabout onto Broadway. Keep straight on until you reach the promenade at the Broadway Hotel. Turn right onto the promenade and carry on for about half a mile until you see the Clubhouse elevated on your right.

Surprisingly parkland style course given its proximity to the sea. But what an excellent track. Undulating, intertesting, top quality fairways. Greens still being worked on as it is April, but still ran true. Society package of £26 incl 2 course meal cant be betterd. Very friendly and helpful clubhouse staff, topped a great day.

The course has no par 5's and the greens are usually diseased. Also there is no such thing as a nice day in morecambe, so if you're planning a visit then pile on the layers

I played at Morecambe GC late April 2008. The course was in excellent condition. The staff were friendly and all in our party were made to feel welcome. Visiting facilities were of the highest order as was the catering. What impressed me is that despite the history surrounding this club, the size and presentation of the clubhouse and amenities, there was no hint of stuffiness. The course, although short, was challenging. I would definitely return.
