Fairmont St Andrews is offering a unique set of activities for society and corporate day events

By: Golfshake Editor | Thu 17 Mar 2016

The Fairmont St. Andrews, situated on the outskirts of the famous town, is offering a unique set of activities and challenges to elevate the traditional experience of a society or corporate day event.

Created by the venue and Troon®, the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing, golfers can now enhance their exceptional golf experience at Fairmont St Andrews with some new twists to freshen up the format.

Tenacious in its pursuit of outstanding service and hospitality, the venue is looking at ways of evolving golf days with different activities to add further fun in the “Home of Golf”. Golfers can hire one of the new fleet of GolfBoards, the thrilling mix of surfboarding on land whilst transporting their clubs around the course. On a similar theme, organisers can invite their guests to enter the “hover challenge” by slaloming through a specially designed route on a hovercraft.

For those looking to share their experiences on social media and save their memories of the course, photo booths can be placed on the first tee as well as in the Clubhouse just in case the battery has run low on the smart phone. Furthermore, organisers are now challenged to start the day off right with some lighthearted competition over breakfast. Strategically placed around the Clubhouse are a number of different activities including the club head speed challenge, fruit smash and the ultimate activity of hitting out to a target in the North Sea.

“This is an exciting time for us at Fairmont St Andrews as we tackle the stereotypical golf day head on,” commented Amy Yeates, Director of Golf. “As a more modern venue in a region steeped in history and tradition, we are trying to set ourselves apart and effectively combine what golfers are really after, flexibility and entertainment. Golf is fun and we aim to offer an experience that is much more than just 18-holes.”

Set on a unique 520 acre coastal Scottish estate, Fairmont St Andrews features two pristinely presented championship golf courses – the Par-71, 7,192 yards Kittocks course and the Par-71, 7,230 yards Torrance course, initially created by Ryder Cup legend Sam Torrance. Remaining consistent to its values for extraordinary tournament service, delivered by the expert team on-site, a golf day continues to include the usual touches with bag drop, full Titleist Hire equipment, the fully grassed golf range and tournament scorecard management.

After their game and having sampled the new activities, golfers can relax in the clubhouse and enjoy its stunning views across the town of St Andrews and The Eden Estuary, ideal for an informal dinner enjoying its wide selection of local beers and spirits. With over 200 well-appointed guest rooms in the elegant hotel, all featuring an authentic Scottish theme, golfers can stay the night and unwind in the luxurious Signature Spa complete with an abundance of post-golf amenities available to guests including a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and relaxation room.

With the new array of activities, Troon continues to display its market-leading ability to challenge the norms and increase golfer’s enjoyment of their golf games. By injecting fun and creating a way of sharing golfing experiences, Fairmont St Andrews has responded to need for innovation in this sector of the market.
