Crown Kick Off The Golf Bag Amnesty

By: Golf Shake | Wed 11 Jun 2014

crown golf bag amnestyCrown Golf have kicked off their 'Bag & Equipment Amnesty' this week coinciding with the start of the US Open and World Cup -  all 25 Crown Golf venues will open their doors to golfers’ unwanted golf bags and golf clubs.

Any golfer who contributes to the amnesty will receive a voucher worth £20 off their next Callaway Golf Bag when purchased from a Crown Golf pro shop.  Members of Crown Golf will also be entered into a prize draw to win a trip to the Caribbean island of Grenada, courtesy of the Foundation set up by Premier League footballer Jason Roberts.

The plan is simple - getting golfers donating their old bags and gear which will support The Golf Trust who will  redistribute to disabled golfers, inner-city and outreach projects, and farther afield to Golf Trust projects around the world.

To help promote the amnesty online and across social media, Crown Golf have created Henry Baggins. The Crown Golf team will start to post photos online of golfers handing in their old equipment. Golfers are also being asked to nominate Friends on Facebook who are suspected of harbouring multiple old golf bags and clubs in their garages.

The campaign, which was devised by Crown Golf agency Magic Hour Media, runs from Thursday June 12th until Sunday September 28th – the scheduled final day of the 2014 Ryder Cup matches.

“Bag Amnesty will, above all, drive people back into the sport” said Crown Golf Chief Operating Officer, Stephen Towers. “Our teams are energised by the prospect, and we expect Bag Amnesty to be one of this summer’s biggest and most entertaining talking points at our golf clubs”.

Golfers can take in their unwanted bags and gear to any one of the 25 Crown Golf venues in the UK including Eccleston Park in the North (Merseyside end of M62) and Chesfield Downs, nr Stevenage.
