Record Number of Golfers Make Lithium Switch with Motocaddy

By: Golf Shake | Tue 11 Jun 2013

motocaddyMore British and Irish golfers than ever before are using Lithium batteries to power their golf trolleys, according to record figures recently announced by Motocaddy, market-leading powered trolley brand.

The number of Motocaddy Lithium batteries purchased in the UK and Ireland – either with a trolley or as a replacement option – in the first quarter of this year has increased by 330% from the same period in 2012, while the number of trolleys purchased with a Lithium battery, as opposed to the less efficient and heavier Lead-acid battery, is also up by 60%.

“Golfers are now realising that not only are Lithium batteries lighter and more compact than a Lead-acid version, but their longevity means they’re also a much more cost-effective option in the long term,” said Managing Director Tony Webb. “Our new 18-hole Lithium battery is proving popular as it provides that extra bit of flexibility and affordability for golfers looking to play just one round a day.”

Earlier this year, the innovative brand introduced new 18 and 36-hole Lithium batteries – both with five-year limited warranties – available with each model in the range, including the company’s most compact-folding trolley, the M1 PRO.

Motocaddy’s 18-hole Lithium battery weighs just 2.5kg – a third of the Lead-acid equivalent – while at 3.2kg, the 36-hole Lithium option weighs less than a quarter of the lead version designed for two rounds and is considerably smaller at less than half the size. An integrated Battery Management System protects the Lithium battery and helps to provide a five-times-longer lifespan than a Lead-acid version, while it can also be re-charged from empty in less than five hours.

The launch of the M1 PRO – which sits alongside the popular S-Series models – has also instigated an increase in sales of Motocaddy trolleys in the UK and Ireland so far this year, compared with the same period in 2012.

Motocaddy’s 18-hole and 36-hole Lithium batteries with charger have RRPs of £199.99 and £249.99 respectively.
