Takomo has quickly earned a reputation for producing some of the best-value irons in golf, with the Finnish brand proving that premium performance doesn't always require a premium price. Having already been impressed by several of its iron models, we were keen to see whether that same philosophy has carried over into the new Ignis D2 fairway woods.
That's exactly what we set out to discover as we tested the Takomo Ignis D2 on the golf course before putting it through its paces on TrackMan.

Takomo Ignis D2 Fairway Woods
The Ignis D2 fairway woods have been designed to inspire confidence from both the tee and the fairway. Available in 15°, 18° and 21° lofts, they feature a lightweight carbon crown, a heat-treated Hyper 17-4 stainless steel body and a variable thickness face that's engineered to maintain ball speed across a larger hitting area.
Takomo has also included an adjustable hosel across the range, while the 3-wood benefits from interchangeable sole weights that allow golfers to fine-tune launch and ball flight. The 5 and 7-woods instead use fixed rear weighting to maximise forgiveness and stability.
For this review, all three clubs were fitted with Fujikura Ventus Blue 7X shafts.
Who Are They For?
One of the biggest takeaways from our testing was that Takomo hasn't tried to build a low-spin, tour-only fairway wood. Instead, the Ignis D2 range is aimed squarely at golfers who want a club that's easy to launch, forgiving across the face and capable of producing repeatable results.
That makes them particularly appealing for golfers who struggle to consistently strike fairway woods from the turf, while the addition of a high-launching 7-wood will undoubtedly appeal to players looking for an alternative to a difficult long iron or hybrid.
If your priority is consistency rather than simply chasing the longest possible numbers, these are well worth a look.

Takomo has already shown it can compete with established manufacturers in the iron category, and the Ignis D2 fairway woods suggest that success wasn't a one-off.
Rather than focusing solely on raw distance, these clubs deliver the sort of consistency, forgiveness and easy launch that most club golfers will benefit from. During our testing, that dependable performance stood out more than any individual launch monitor number, giving us confidence that these woods will suit a wide range of players.
They may not be the obvious choice for elite golfers searching for a compact, low-spin fairway wood, but for the vast majority of players looking for confidence and reliability from both the tee and fairway, the Ignis D2 is another impressive addition to the Takomo line-up.
