Four Golfers Take on Challenge to Raise Money For NHS Heroes

By: Golfshake Editor | Wed 09 Jun 2021

The COVID-19 pandemic was compassionately dealt with by workers from the NHS, who kept the country going throughout the early origins of the virus. As a result of their heroism, four golfers believe that it is time to give a little back – by taking on 101 holes in one day to raise money for NHS Charities on June 21.

The mighty challenge is expected to take a whopping 18 hours and the four men are also in partnership with Covid-19 Urgent Appeal to raise as much awareness as possible. The golfers, including Rory Woolridge who will be participating in his fifth Golfathon, will play East Berkshire Golf Course.

The men were greatly inspired by the brave effort that the late Captain Sir Tom Moore demonstrated last year and have dedicated the challenge to him by playing 101 holes as it would have been Sir Tom’s 101st birthday this year.

The four golfers are friends and have played golf together for a long time. Rory, Matt Robinson, David Long and Matt Niedsweiki have also arranged a raffle so golfers around the UK will have a chance at winning an array of excellent prizes.

These prizes include equipment from major brands such as TaylorMade, Cobra and Srixon. Supplementing the gear prizes is signed memorabilia from players such as Dustin Jonson, Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson, golf breaks and many more.

Finally, the final and perhaps the most wanted prize is a day of coaching with YouTube’s favourite duo actPiers Ward and Andy Proudman from Me and My Golf. With so many great prizes up for grabs and a worthy cause, the four men are encouraging golfers to get involved as much as you can.

Ultimately, the golfers want to give as much back to the NHS as possible - after a turbulent year, the health service have had to experience. The health service is close to Rory’s heart, having spent four years in hospital as a youngster as well as needing urgent care in his adulthood.

The raffle has nearly 60 prizes on offer so far and it looks certain that there will be plenty more by the time the challenge takes place on June 21. You can see the full and up-to-date list of prizes by visiting the 101 holes for NHS Heroes website – www.101holesfornhshearoes.com

With raffle tickets selling for a small price of £10, the group are asking for the cause to be shared around as much as possible so the brilliant health service can receive some much-needed additional funding - but to also thank them for the selfless service that they provide each and every day of the year.
