Burnham and Berrow Continues Rise in Golf Course Rankings

By: Golfshake Editor | Thu 13 Dec 2018

Burnham and Berrow has continued to rise through the rankings as its Championship Course's lofty reputation was recognised in the latest Top 100 Golf Courses in the UK & Ireland Ranking from Golf Monthly, with the venue in the South West of England ascending into the Top 30.

This significant achievement bears testament to the club’s forward-thinking attitude and dedication to enhancing not only its Championship Course, but all aspects of the club to deliver a world-class links experience with impeccable playing conditions, first-class food & hospitality and upgraded on-site accommodation for both members and guests.

Burnham and Berrow Feature Review

Commenting on behalf of Burnham and Berrow, Managing Secretary, Karen Drake said, “When I first joined the club 5 years ago we set out some ambitious goals and one of those was to make that small, but very hard jump into the top 30 golf courses in the UK & Ireland, so naturally this is a very special moment for our members and hard-working staff.

“We are fortunate to have a thriving membership that is very progressive, and we are constantly looking at ways in which we can improve the club for the benefit of everyone.  Now we have reached the top 30 we will continue to invest in the club with the hope of reaching a higher position in the future.”

Part of the famed Atlantic Links group of leading South West England links courses, Burnham and Berrow was founded in 1890 and is blessed with 27-holes of golf that stretch along the Bristol Channel coastline. Offering a truly exhilarating golfing experience and inspiring views, the club’s Championship Course has been the venue for many prestigious golf events, including the British Ladies’ Amateur Championships, Brabazon Trophy, British Boys and English Championships.

From the first tee shot you know you are somewhere special. The Championship Course is laid out in the traditional manner with nine holes out and nine back. The first nine holes skirt the sand dunes and coastline northwards, turning inland and southwards and then following the coast road through Berrow, past the Church and back into Burnham.

The club is also blessed with the 9-hole Channel Course which, aside from its seafront location, offers a wonderful introduction to links golf for everyone, from beginners to the most serious golfer.

Golfers looking for the perfect links golf break can now take advantage of the newly renovated Dormy House. Located right next to the clubhouse, this well-equipped facility can accommodate up to 12 guests in 6 twin bedded rooms; five are en-suite and the sixth has an adjacent bathroom. A variety of great value stay and play packages are available on the club’s website.
