Golf's New Witty and Insightful Magazine 'The Codger' Launched

By: Golfshake Editor | Thu 24 May 2018

Golf publications have been saturated with content on courses, equipment and tuition, but there is a new magazine that is set to buck that trend and offer something different. The Codger is exclusively made up of interviews, opinion pieces, stories and satire with the focus being on quality writing framed with a classy design, sharing the debates and humour that golfers share.

The first edition of the magazine features six exclusive interviews, witty and satirical opinion articles, and stories by some of golf ’s most highly regarded figures.

"I've always been inspired by the writing of Henry Longhurst and felt, as a hopelessly addicted golfer myself, that many golf magazines are now too focused on the likes of equipment, courses and techniques. I wanted to bring the emphasis back to great writing on the sport through a collection of witty and insightful interviews, opinion, story and satire articles, all matched with artwork by acclaimed illustrators," said Thomas Kershaw.

What to Expect

PRIMARY GUEST FEATURES

Political author and close friend of Bernie Sanders, Steve Early, reflects on the true culture and inner-workings at the prestigious Winged Foot G.C when caddying during his teenage years.

All the magazine’s articles are accompanied with editorial artwork by some of the world’s most highly regarded illustrators. This includes Tim Bower, who’s frequently published in numerous top US publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post and The New Yorker. Steven Salerno’s work has been published in 600 different editorials and Mark Smith and Andrea Ucini’s work can both be seen in the likes of The New York Times and The Guardian.
