McIlroy's infamous 3 iron finds it's way back home

DONALD TRUMP is not a man to let a good photo opportunity pass him by. So when Rory McIlroy, the world number one, threw his three iron into a lake at Trump's Blue Monster course during the second round of the WGC Cadillac championship, the man with the worst combover in the history of the world ever decided to send a diver in to retrieve the offending club.

THAT club chuck..

McIlroy endeared himself to golf fans all over the world when, after his approach to the eighth hole failed to clear the water, he took aim and sent the offending club whirling to the bottom of the lake. Most of us have felt like doing the same thing at some stage in our lives, but we don't get our clubs for nothing.

"I mean, look, I just let frustration get the better of me,” McIlroy said after his round. “It was heat of the moment, and I mean, if it had of been any other club I probably wouldn't have done it. But I didn't need a three iron for the rest of the round so I thought, why not?”

A diver found the club on Saturday and while McIlroy was on the range before the final round, Trump approached him with the club in his hands. Of course, he made sure there were television cameras to record the event first. McIlroy told the billionaire he would return it to him after the round. A delighted Trump said he would either donate it to charity or put it in the clubhouse.

"He's a great kid, a great player," Trump said. "Anything he does is news. It showed a human touch. He's a fantastic person.”
