County Challenge

Right, shall we get this going ? My thoughts are this.

For now to get something going and try out a possible team format I suggest this is aimed at the original Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leceistershire counties, that's where I am based also. See note about other teams at the bottom of this post.

Teams :

2 person team playing against another team in a matchplay format either from the same county or another county based on formats below.

Formats :

Welcome peoples thoughts but propose either of the following.

1, Champions league style knock out

4 teams in a league playing each other over a 3 month period (Jun-Aug), therefore each team plays 3 matches, points awarded for win/draw etc. If there are multiple teams than top 2 teams go through to some sort of final in September/October.

2, Wimbledon style knock out

Teams are drawn in a wimbledon style event. If you win you go through to the next round and if you lose you are knocked out. Obviously if you lose the first match you only play one game.

Arranging matches :

This is done by the teams, golfshake.com just provides the facilitation mechanism for results and getting teams in touch with each other.

The more teams the better. If people are keen outside of these counties then that's fine, just need to ensure there are muliple teams within counties so there are competitors.

Thoughts welcome.

Regards,

Darren.

The idea is if enough people are interested.  That you would play people fro Bucks or around Oxon, Beds, Herts etc

Myself in Notts, would then play teams in Leics, Derbys, Lincs etc

If the champions league format was used then the top team/teams could go through to some kind of grand final.

Darren.

Hi Darren myself and Si are in for Essex. How did the rest of the show go. We found it very poor but good to say hello again. Will be trying out the freebie Sunday

I'd go for the wimble on this 1st event to keep it manageable (any spelling msiatkes there wayne? :-)

Any other thoughts on preferred format ?  Wimbledone option only gives a team 1 match if they lose ?

To make it easier the idea is to have multiple teams from close locations/counties. Hopefully it will test out the format and see what the interest is like.  There are already 10 teams from Notts, Derbys, Leics so this is a good starting point.

This way there isn't one event where people from all over the place take part in a location miles from where they are based.

If it gets extended further than Notts, Leics, Derbs, then potentially you could have some sort of regional final with the winning teams.

Hope this makes sense.
