Would you break a club just for a shot?????
I know I would, but I wouldn't do it if my hands were going to smack the tree

As it happens I did the same in a CGL game last summer. I was heading for a +36 pts. On the 17th and found myself in exactly the same position: after a couple of practice shots (the intention being to stab the ball out and stop at impact) the inevitable follow through resulted in the same result as Tiger's. Lesson to be learnt is if your swing plane is anywhere near a tree take a drop as it cost me £40 plus hassle, the resulting shot was also crap though I did get 38 pts.

Not a chance.

I don't think any shot in golf is worth breaking a club for.
Afer all, it's the person using the club that has produced the bad shot, not the club!!!

Santo - not sure how you arrived at your assumption, in any case, I have no problem playing out sidewards etc if I am in trouble. The only thing worse than one bad shot is two in a row! I try not to get in trouble if I can help it.
Does breaking your club by throwing it count - Mr Williams came close last weekend!!! Lol - I think he was aiming at his bag but missed that as well!! Ouch.

60 degre wedge shots require total commitment to the shot or failure will be the result.
There are far better clubs to use for chipping than a 60 degree wedge, trust me.

I agree, I'll only use a 60 off a nice fluffly lie when stopping dead is a must.

Tiger wouldn't have to wait for the end of his round to get a replacement club. I beleive you're entitled to replace a club broken in the process of playing a shot. Unlike when he dropped his club in the water.

Ditto re the 60* shot...lie must be good to better.
