I doubt anyone could hit that green in two, as I have played the course many times when the last was an ordinary par five of some 500 odd yds in length. The second shot then would not be to risk going for the green, as short and all along the left of the green is a very large lake. and from a downhill lie also.

In fact when it first opened I was the holder of the course record of 73.

No Paul, I used to play there in the period 93/97 when I was coaching a friend of mine who lived in Billericay, so it was one that was on the doorstep, so to speak.

I like the course as it was a good test, probably even more so if they have a stupid last hole of that length.

Checked the website, no mention of a 800 yard hole.

Crondon Park - Home ::

18 hole golf course located in the village of Stock between Brentwood and Chelmsford. Home to the worlds longest hole, the 18th par 5, 851 yards from the Tiger Tee.

647 it is then, Danny. They have  lengthened it from when I last played there.

John is correct guys - Crondon certainly did boast an 850 yard 18th Hole off a specially extended 'Tiger' tee. The attached is a few years old but confirms it

Whether it is still available for use is another matter. It is correct that it doesn't feature on the normal course scorecard

I think the tiger tee is installed for that said competition. I don't think it's a regular tee.

Fancy that, a hole half a mile long.

HA,

Its great living in Billericay.

Played the 18th at Crondon. The full length is only from the very bacvk tee which is rarely used.

I did however make the green in 3.

Let's be honest here, a hole that is 850 yards long cannot be a par 5, it has to be classed as a par 6 or more.

Even the longest of hitters would have trouble getting there in three!

Is the back tee installed as a gimmick?
