Police have launched an investigation after a badly-burned body was found on a world famous golf course.
The body was found on the Buddon course at Carnoustie Golf Club on Tayside, Scotland.
All courses on the Carnoustie links, which regularly hosts the British Open championships, were closed while detectives and scenes of crime officers examined the scene.
A police spokesman said: "Tayside Police have cordoned off an area of the Buddon golf course at Carnoustie in Angus following the discovery of a body on the course.
"Officers attended at the course shortly after 6.40am and found the body, which had been badly burned.
"At the same time as carrying out a meticulous examination of the scene, efforts are now under way to try and establish the identity of the deceased.
"Detective officers, uniformed officers and scenes of crime officers are in attendance at this time and the public is being advised to avoid the area.
Carnoustie is one the of the oldest golf clubs in the world. It was formally established in 1842 but evidence of golf being played there dates back to the 1500s.
Its famous Championship course last played host to the Open last year, when Irishman Padraig Harrington was the winner.
