FIR GIR

Posted by: user89993 | Sat 7th Jun 2008 15:58 | Last Reply

Hello, This is my first post. My name is Jagdeep, I have been playing golf a little over 1 year and playing off 25.

Can some please explain to my what exactly are the rules behind by FIR and GIR please.

I am really enjoying my game. I play at various clubs like Thorney Park Golf club near Richings Park, Wexham Park Golf Course, Stockley Park, Farnham, Sunbury and Twickenham (9 hole).

I became a member at Thorney Park this year as I found it to be a challenging course. I will go out some day and hit 92 my lowest and then I will hit 103 like today which is really fustrating.

I feel I am really improving my long and short game. Putting needs bit of attention.

Hello and welcome!

FIR - Fairway in regulation.  Your tee shot ends up on the fairway.

GIR - Green in Regulation.  If your playing a par 4, your ball needs to be on the green in 2 shots.  A par 3, 1 shot and par 5 3 shots.

Hope that helps!
