Posted by: user445823 | Sun 25th Mar 2012 18:44 | Last Reply

Dear All, I am just looking for a bit of advice and guidance. My son is 5 years old and started playing golf in November 2011. My knowledge isnt the greatest but feel what i have started to witness over the past few weeks is special. Please find the below last 4 score cards. Any comments, help or guidance would be most appreciated. Regards Paul.

Paul, well done to your little un, I see he got a par there. My boy is 6 and ive been thinking of starting him off when i get some short clubs for him. What sort of length is he hitting and what/ how many clubs has he got.  I was thinking of just a 7 iron and putter to get him going. Well done again.

Dave CAC handed Geordie.

Hi Dave, thanks for the above, the main thing is he really enjoys it. He has a driver, three and rescue wood, with regard to irions he has 5,6,7,8,9, PW, SW and putter. He actually started with the 7 iron and it went from there to be honest, it was the perfect thing for family to buy as xmas presents. His best drive is circa 100yards but is often around 60 to 75yards, just now working on getting more height to his game. The best part of his game is really around the green and putting. On another note it was a great feeling as he actually won the hole when he got his first par as above.

Regards

Paul

Hi

Most golf clubs where I live in Leicester have an acadamy. They generally last for around six weeks.  The local pro gives lessons & advice.

Kids love this they get a certificate & awards as they move up the ranks.  This is more often than not open to non members too.

It's not normally overly expensive either.

May be worth a look locally to where you live, these are indirectly arranged through the English Golf union for kids to learn golf, with fun being the important factor.

Cheers

David
