Certainly worth it as a one-off
If you want to play in Costa Rica this is maybe the most convenient option. It’s relatively near SJO airport, has hotels a short walk away, and it’s ideal if you wake up early morning with jet lag. I had the course to myself but you do have to email and book in advance. Beware though that the pro shop for club rental only opens at 7am!The course is heavily treed, but fairly short so you can use irons from tees. It’s well kept, friendly, has interesting undulations without going OTT, and in some places has great views. It’s also very cool finding leaf-cutter ants in the rough.
It’s not a routing or strategic masterpiece, it’s not cheap but not much is in Costa Rica. I’m glad I played it but I wouldn’t rush back if I revisit San Jose. It’s also worth noting that a kart’s included with the green fee, there’s a small range & I took my own golf shoes as they’re handy in rainforest too. Also, take some time to practice punch-outs beforehand!
